So on December 30, 2009 while lounging in my room I had a revelation, I was going to become a vegetarian!
Your probably thinking, wow not a very original idea for a blog?
Well maybe I can change your mind.
The next morning I woke up and told my parents of my plan. Simply put, they laughed in my face. Well maybe that's a little harsh but I did get laughed at. You see I come from a family where animals have a place in this world and that is usually beside the vegetables on our dinner plates. My dad jokes around that vegetarian means 'bad hunter' and my mother seriously doubted that I could last on this 'new diet' for more than a week. She may have been right, since I hadn't really researched this new lifestyle choice, but thankfully Peta has an amazing site to learn from.
Now you may wonder why did I suddenly decide to become a vegetarian? Well originally I didn't like the idea of all the chemicals in meat or in the food that the animals are fed. I love animals and all but I've never really had a problem with eating them. I thought it was just a way of life, that was until I watched the 'Meet Your Meat' video on Peta. The way the animals were treated was horrific. But you probably already knew that.
So back to the present.
I have signed that pledge to be vegetarian for 30 days, and this will be my story of those 30 days.
It will be no walk in the park considering I'll have to;
1) give up my Ugg boots (by the way where I live it was -29 this morning!) meaning my toes will probably freeze
2) give up my Marc Jacobs wallet (I'm not superficial but fashion is my number one passion and I had been lusting after this wallet for years)
3) give up my Calvin Klein boots
4) most importantly.....NOT EAT MEAT
The benefits will out weigh what I have to give up but it will be hard.
So are you with me?
